Fly Fishing Entertainment Hits Big Screens Across the Nation
The Angling Exploration Group, a media production company specializing in adventure fly fishing entertainment, recently announced an updated film and venue list for their upcoming film tour. The tour will visit over thirty cities nation-wide and kicks off January 12th, 2007 at the Patagonia World Headquarters in Ventura, California.
January 8th, 2007 (Merlin, Or.) -- Not since A River Runs Through It has fly fishing looked this cool! A new wave of fly fishing media is headed for a theater near you this winter.
The 2007 Fly Fishing Film Tour is presented by Fly Rod and Reel magazine. The headlining sponsors include Patagonia, Costa Del Mar, Scientific Anglers, Sage, Defeet, Reel Pure, and Wilderness Systems.
The tour showcases some of fly fishing's most innovative filmmakers with highlights from films such as:
Trout Bum Diaries, Volume 2 takes an in-depth look into the life of a trout bum on a four month road trip exploring the gin-clear waters of the South Island of New Zealand in search of monster brown trout. (Angling Exploration Group)
Running Down the Man explores the arcane pursuit of fly-fishing for Rooster fish from the beaches of Baja Mexico and the zealotry and commitment that it takes to successfully angle to them. (Felt Soul Media)
Chasing Silver takes viewers from the hand lines and row-boat of A.W. Dimock in the 1880's to the fly rods and flats skiffs of today's greatest tarpon fisherman. (Howard Films)
We've got a ton of great gear to give away
at each event, explained Thad Robison, coordinator for the film tour. Not only have our presenting sponsors been very generous but our additional tour sponsors aren't holding back either. We've also got products to give away from Korkers, Brunton, Vosseler, FethaStyx, Harmony, Adventure Technology, and Loop Fly Fishing Tackle.
Don't forget to sign up for the tour end raffle, continued Thad, which will include such big-ticket items as fly rods, reels, vices, pontoon boats, a sit-on-top kayak, and a full fly fishing outfit from Patagonia.
While fly fishing has traditionally been viewed as an old man's sport, it's really something everyone can enjoy, commented Ryan Davey, one of the founding partners of the Angling Exploration Group. If you've ever considered fly fishing or are interested in what its about don't miss this!
When we took Volume 1 of the Trout Bum Diaries on a national marketing tour last year, we were absolutely amazed by the response,Ryan continues, A sport that had become a little stale and stagnant suddenly had inspiration. Based on that success, the Fly Fishing Film Tour was born.
We're extremely excited about this year's film tour; we've got some really solid content, said Chris Owens, Director of Videography for AEG. While this tour appeals to fishermen, its really more about being entertained than anything else.
The Fly Fishing Film Tour is an annual event showcasing highlights from some of fly fishing's top adventure, conservation, and entertainment films. This year's film tour will reach nearly ten thousand people nation-wide in over thirty cities. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for children and are available for purchase ahead of time via local fly fishing retailers and outdoor stores.
