Had a few emails with our man in Cape York this week. Al sent us some pictures and now a short report to follow up on his Batfish on fly story. Read the whole story to see the photos and report.
Below is Al's latest Batfish on fly

Hey man I haven't had time to do a report. After I emailed you yesterday I went Tarpon fishing . It was really good. Hooked and landed lots of fish. I guess this IS a brief report on the last trip .We fished the Wentlock river for Barra and hooked quite a few on the start of the run in. Biggest fish went 79 cm. We then worked our way north to the Jackson  river where we saw a Indo boat. I 've told you what they do with them. (The enviromentalists don't let them be burnt at sea any more so they drag them up on the beach and torch them. Pretty much all the rats and every other pest  on board can hop of the burning boat straight onto the beach.) I bypassed  lunch on the 4th day when I saw several Batfish hanging around the back of the "Paradise. Ran up stairs , grabbed my rod and tied on a bread fly, cast and was soon hooked up to the beauty in the picture. The off shore reefs fished really well for fingermark and coral trout. On the last day while chasing Queenies, Graeme ( one of the new guides) thought I looked like a better target than the fish . So I ended up with his so called hookless teaser in my foot. Thank god for barbless!!!!!! Seen a few schools of Permit . I'll really fish the flats hard this trip, so hopefully we'll get some fickle sickels. Gotta run and get ready for tomorrow and the upcoming week.
